I've always used my four-part definition of a cult (deifies man, humanizes God, ostracizes Scripture, and requires an extra-Biblical view of salvation.)
But today I learned of another one that rings true:
“You can always tell a cult from a religion. . .because a cult is just a set of rules that lets certain men get laid.”

*laugh* Well, yes, but I still like your definition better.
You go girl! I am the one that Kyle Degge met at a NAMI meeting a month ago. He introduced me to a support group...but some how they are not very supportive. All they wanted was information and for me to expose myself to a groupd of people that I am not sure I can or want to trust!
They are basically telling me that it is okay that I have not seen my 12-year old son for 22 months and was taken my by LDS/Mormon ex-Greg, whoc was still married to his first wife when we got married and conceived out now 12-year old son!
Plus to boot he was able to convince and entire Plano ISd school district and my own family that I am (NOT) mentally ill. This is absurd and defies what ouyr judicial and legal system is supposed to stand for.
We have a trial on Aug. 24, 2009 where my ex-Gregory L. Van Dyke is trying to terminate my parental rights (which more or less he has already done!).
I have a friend from high school (Barbara Larson Holgreen) who is also going through a LDS/Mormon divorce and has 4 children. She like many others did not believe me how awful I was treated in Utah. But now she is finding out first hand that wearing garments does nto protect her! As I noticed that she is no longer wearing them herself, but judged me for leaving them behind in Utah when I moved to Texas.
