There's a new book out by that title — A Mormon in the White House? I read it and have noted with interest that another couple of fairly new books have the words “Mormon Conspiracy” in the title.

Now, I'm not much for conspiracy theories. But I've heard people compare Mitt Romney's presidential run to that of JFK years ago.

I remember as a fourth-grader at Bandelier Elementary School in Albuquerque, solemnly telling a group of wide-eyed girls that if Kennedy was elected, we'd all have to become nuns.

I don't want to overstate in such a manner. I believe Romney to have some notable and appropriate personality traits and skills that could make him an effective president. But the comparison of him to Kennedy is not appropriate. After all, no pope ever began a war with the US government, nor announced that the church's leadership would one day be in charge of our country.
