What do I want to “incite”?

When Jesus told the parables, He used a word picture to “throw alongside” (the literal meaning of “parable”) a principle. The insights that He thus “incited” were created by the friction and contrast between the two elements.

Let me provide a similar service for you, dear reader. I'll give you something intended to incite your mind and spirit to creativity and deeper understandings. If any sparks fly for you, let me hear from you.

Here's a poem to incite you today:

Polyfacet

Just as He is God
Who is served by
A Spirit
Who is the faces of
Ox eagle lion man

Who is a wheel
Within a wheel
Covered by eyes
All around

I lean now
Upon His breast
Becoming with the church
Millions of ears
That lie just under
His clavicle
Straining to hear
The comfort of
His beating
Heart

  • Latayne (Dr. Scott),

    I love this poem.
    Your blog looks fantastic.

Thanks so much to Dan, you and Mike for all you have taught me about spiritual matters. I look forward to more.

  • "Straining to hear the comfort of His beating heart"...that is beautiful...makes me realize that sometimes it does take a little "straining" on our part to listen to what God has to say...that requires more faith on our part...thanks for that...by the way, I was born in Las Vegas, New Mexico and now reside in Riverside, California. Way to go, NM! God bless

  • This is beautiful work, Latayne! Noel also did a fantastic job on your blog. It really compliments your work and enhances the richness of it.

Hope you all are doing well.

  • I met you for the first time at my baptism and from that day you have been an integral part of my spiritual growth. I thank God daily for bringing us together. I have learned so much from you and continue to learn more each day. You have helped me to understand and utilize God's word in my life and for that I am eternally grateful.

Your website is amazing! Great job Noel.

    Love you,

    Janice

  • Thank you so much. I am constantly amazed at the wonderful people that God has brought into my life and the way that their personalities have enriched my own walk with the Lord. All the glory goes to Him! But meanwhile, we feast on the fellowship that unity brings!
