Did the angels
Those sinew-armed strongmen of the ages
Sweat great drops of celestial self control
Did tears run down the faces
Of those who continually see the Face
Did holy muscles tremble and twitch
at being restrained
at seeing urgency and being forbidden
at hearing the cries and stopping their unearthly ears
Did eternal eyes flinch and close against the sight
Of a Savior they couldn’t save?

This is a beautiful poem, Latayne. It's a thought I've never considered, though now I can't think why. I love how your work opens our eyes to things like this.
Latayne, thank you for this powerful image. I especially liked the line "Sweat great drops of celestial self control"--what a mighty and painful struggle that must have been.
Thank you so much, Sharon and Kirsten. I am so glad that you were blessed by the poem.
Totally awesome!
He reached into the ground and pulled out them golden plates baby!
And of course, if you had read any of my books, you would know that I am not a hater of Mormons. Just their un-biblical doctrines.
