Approaching Gethsemane

. . the Lamb that was slain from the creation of the world. . .” –Revelation 13:8

When He walked,
The shadow He cast
Was that
Of a blood-drenched
Lamb

The prophet Isaiah made it plain that it wouldn't be the appearance of the Messiah that would draw people to Him. There would be something else–a quality that couldn't be captured in a portrait or a description. Even the disciples who met Jesus on the road to Emmaus after His resurrection didn't recognize what was special about Him at the time, just that He'd had a tangible effect on them. How fortunate we are that it wasn't Jesus' looks or even His “charisma” that drew people to Him, for those things no longer are here with us on earth. His words and His power, though, linger like a sweet, persistent perfume, blessing us even two thousand years later.

May this “incite” bless you as we approach Easter.

  • I find that I am contantly more attacted to Jesus and the word of God, with a deeper and fuller understanding of what it means to be a Christian. I wandered for while in college and found that I was miserable and unhappy. Some thing was missing from my life. Through my fiance and other supportive Christians, I have become reaquainted with the Lord and have found his love to be unwavering. I am blessed.

  • What a lovely, encouraging post, Sagine! Our gracious loving Savior tells us that there is more rejoicing over the return of one of His lambs than over the ones who stayed in the fold. So -- that means -- the feeling of blessedness you feel is mirroring the "welcome home, Sagine" party that is going on in heaven!
