I recently found an excellent video, made by a faithful Mormon, about why people leave the LDS Church.  It is shocking in its candid admissions of the “faults” of the LDS Church in its presentation of its own doctrine and history.  However, it is the first admission I've seen from a faithful Mormon of how such things have an impact on a TBM (True Believing Mormon) such as I was.  Thank you so much, John Dehlin.

It's about an hour long. However, the audio part is stand-alone and you don't have to look at the (very simple chart) visuals.

At the end, it gives some options for Mormons who want to stay in the LDS Church.  I found that I could not and cannot excise “truth” from my consciousness in order to stay — or return.
