One of the LDS apologist's explanations for why there is no evidence of the catastrophic battles described in the Book of Mormon is that weapons, bones, and other items have disintegrated with time.

Really?  Contrast that thinking with this report that he remains of a mighty Persian army said to have drowned in the sands of the western Egyptian desert 2,500 years ago might have been finally located, solving one of archaeology's biggest outstanding mysteries.

But that's in a dry desert, a Mormon might say.  That's true, but even in the most humid areas of Central America, metal has survived.
